There are tasks of all shapes and sizes that help our Chapter exist and grow. These can look like (but aren’t exclusive to) fundraising, marketing, keeping the accounts, training, recruitment. Have a special interest? CISV Victoria has several standing committees related to specific subjects that you can join. There’s lots of things that need to get to in our chapter. Some may be in support of bigger areas, but can also be done as one-off tasks. Take a look at some of the volunteer opportunities below!

Volunteer Tasks (need is on a rolling basis)

Communications
Communications need to take place both internally (within CISV Victoria) and externally (to the outside world). There are lots of different areas that the Communications Chair can be supported in getting the word out about CISV Victoria, our events, programmes, and activities.
  • Writing newsletters
  • Managing/updating our website
  • Social media content creation
  • Promoting CISV Victoria to outside sources (news outlets, blogs, magazines, etc.)
JB Support
Our Junior Branch is primarily self-sufficient, but there are ways that we can help support them in the background.
  • Booking venues for JB Meetings and minicamps
  • JB Liaison (supporting the Steering committee)
  • Carpooling to/from events
  • Chaperoning JB events
  • Setting menus and cooking at minicamps
  • Welcoming new families at JB Meetings
Fund Development
The programmes offered by CISV Victoria are made possible through various fundraising endeavours, generous donations of individuals, sponsorship and grants. Without fund development CISV Victoria becomes more costly and less accessible. It's through our fundraisers that we are able to lower the financial barriers of participation for our members.

Mosaic
Using the core CISV Values, local members develop projects in conjunction with like minded organizations or community groups. The aim is to create an authentic learning experience for participants and deliver a benefit to the wider community. We are currently recruiting a new Mosaic Coordinator. If you have an idea for a Mosaic initiatives or would be interested in stepping into this role, please reach out to Lilly & Sarah.

Hosting
Hosting a programme is a big responsibility and requires a lot of hard work and organization from our Chapter. It is also incredibly rewarding and a huge contribution to the CISV community. We hosted an incredibly successful Youth Meeting in 2024, and we'll be doing it again in the summer of 2026! Want to be involved? There are lots of ways!

Profile-Raising / Recruitment
Profile-raising is the act of increasing the visibility CISV Victoria. It means supporting our Chapter in our efforts to become better known and understood by people in our community as we engage with new families, volunteers, potential sponsors/donors, and like-minded organizations.
  • Present in schools / community organizations
  • Coordinate with and volunteer at local festivals
  • Manage our membership list
  • Write op-eds for local media
Programmes
All programs share the common goals of building global friendships and learning about the educational areas of diversity, conflict and resolution, human rights and sustainable development. We want to offer the best experiences to our members and to ensure this there are lots of things that need to go on behind the scenes!

Want to volunteer with our youth?

Please consider getting a free Criminal Record Check (CRC) if you want to participate in CISV events such as Mosaic projects, minicamps, and fundraisers. CISV needs CRCs to be completed every 3 years for adults 18 and over that may be around our CISV children. This includes leaders, executive members, chaperones, staff at minicamps and hosting family members. You can even do it every year since it is a free service offered to volunteer organizations!

Processing times are currently long, so please consider getting your CRC done sooner rather than later. Contact our Risk Manager, Steve for more information.

Be a homestay

Depending on flight availability, sometimes delegations arrive before the camp begins or need to leave after the camp ends. CISV Victoria is proud to offer our hospitality to delegates and leaders alike for up to two nights before/after the programme. Would you like to open your home to CISVers around the world? Ask for donations

It takes a lot of resources to host a CISV programme. From food, to craft materials, and first aid supplies, everything is important. Do you have a contact that might be interested in providing us with physical or in-kind donations? We can provide you with a sample letter to ask for donations that you can send along! Email hosting@cisvvictoria.ca for inquiries.

Be a camp cook

Like to cook? Volunteer as a chef or a kitchen volunteer at our Youth Meeting! We can provide accommodation if you'd like to cook for multiple days, or you can just come up for a day of meals. Contact hosting@cisvvictoria.ca for more details.

Run errands

We never know what we might need at our Youth Meeting! Are you available during the summer but don't want to take on a huge task? Consider being a camp gofer! Be on call for a given day and if we discover we need something, you'd be the one to get it and drop it off. Easy! Contact hosting@cisvvictoria.ca if interested.

  • CISV Canada's Sustainability Committee: Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and creating a greener future for CISV? Join the CISV Canada Sustainability Committee, a joint JB/Adult team working to promote sustainability in CISV Canada! This joint committee, composed of both Junior Branch (JB) and Adult members, works to promote environmental sustainability within CISV Canada. Our mission is to support chapters, participants, and families in adopting sustainable practices through education, resources, and policy recommendations. If you are interested, please fill out this form. 
  • CISV Anniversary National Working Group: CISV Canada is looking for individuals to join a working group that is tasked with creating and implementing a national fundraising campaign and a national activity that all of our chapters can participate in to help us celebrate CISV International's 75th Anniversary. Regional Volunteer Opportunities

Your skills can strengthen the foundation of CISV in your region. These roles are hands-on, collaborative, and essential to bringing our mission to life on the ground.

  • Training Advisor: We are currently looking for volunteers to join the regional team as Training Advisors to support Members with the implementation of the new Training Framework. Advisors will also support monitoring of volunteer training at the National/Chapter level, help with development of resources, and provide feedback to the Training Committee on the Members’ training needs. Onboarding will be provided to ensure volunteers are confident to perform this role.

International Volunteer Opportunities

Whether you’ve grown through CISV or guided others along the way, your knowledge and skills can help shape the future of global citizenship education. CISV is looking for experienced volunteers to take on meaningful roles that go beyond the day-to-day. These are opportunities to lead with your expertise—whether that’s in strategy, training, education, or programme support. You can contribute at the global level, helping shape strategy and vision, or at the regional level, where your skills can strengthen programs and teams on the ground.

  • Translator: As a Translator you will contribute to making our guides and information more accessible!
    With your advanced knowledge in English and your native language, you will help us translating our official documents and in occasions interpreting online webinars and meetings for our non-native English-speaking members. You will support CISV’s internal communication efforts with your knowledge. This role will work by project and we will benefit of the time you can contribute in a short or long term.
