JB Meetings
CISV Victoria holds monthly Junior Branch (JB) Meetings, where our Steering Committee organize and run fun activities and games for youth ages 10-25 that explore key themes such as diversity, human rights, sustainable development, and conflict resolution.
If you walked into a JB Meeting you would likely see a big group of youth, laughing, maybe standing in a circle, participating in some game, and then a transition to small groups in a quieter activity and then coming back into a big circle to debrief and share, while youth from the Steering Committee lead with questions.
At the end of our JB Meetings we like to give out CISV SPIRIT AWARDS! A Steering Member will be giving the recognition to youth we see who display CISV qualities like: kindness, enthusiasm, engagement, critical thinking, friendliness, great listening, etc.
Whether or not you have ever taken part in a CISV programme or activity, or simply come across this page, you are very welcome to take part in our JB events.
Steering
The very heart and soul of our Chapter is our Steering team. Steering is a committee of dedicated JBers who want to take a more active role in CISV Victoria. They develop their intercultural and leadership skills through organizing and taking part in educational and social activities. These include our monthly JB meetings, as well as the minicamps hosted by our Chapter. The committee is lead by CISV Victoria's Local Junior Representative (LJR) and has an adult JB Liaison to provide support and guidance. They manage their own activities and are supported by the adult Executive Board. Any youth who wish to improve their leadership skills are welcome to be a part of Steering.
This year's Steering team consists of: Samantha (Sr. LJR), Astrid (Jr. LJR), Kasper, Marco, Yanisa, Heidi, Felix, Leanna (Co-JB Liaison), and Sophie (Co-JB Liaison). They meet monthly to plan an incredible year of fun, peace, and friendship for our JBers.
Local Junior Representative (LJR)
It’s that time of year when we are looking for a new Jr. LJR! If you’re a youth who’s interested in leadership, planning activities, and meeting new people, then the LJR role is for you! Any JBer is eligible to run in the election for LJR. We will be having elections for the new Jr. LJR at our next JB meeting on March 7th. There will be a Q&A session with the LJR candidate(s) and then a voting period. All JBers are allowed and highly encouraged to vote!
