What is JB?

The very heart and soul of CISV, Junior Branch comprises young local CISVers between the ages of 10–25, who develop their intercultural and leadership skills through organizing and taking part in educational and social activities. Junior Branch members manage their own activities and take an active role in the administrative responsibilities of their chapters.

JBers also often take an active role in the administrative responsibilities of their Chapters.  Through their national and international network, JBers organize their own regional and international activities and events on a wide variety of themes, such as social justice and the environment.

Whether or not you have ever taken part in a CISV programme or activity, or simply come across this page, you are very welcome to take part in a Junior Branch.

JB Meetings

CISV Victoria holds monthly Junior Branch (JB) meetings, where our Steering Committee organize and run fun activities and games for youth ages 10-25 that explore key themes such as diversity, human rights, sustainable development, and conflict resolution.

If you walked into a Junior Branch meeting you would likely see a big group of youth, laughing, maybe standing in a circle, participating in some game, and then a transition to small groups in a quieter activity and then coming back into a big circle to debrief and share, while youth from the Steering Committee lead with questions.

Steering

Steering is a committee of dedicated JBers who want to take a more active role in CISV Victoria. They plan and run activities for our monthly JB meetings, as well as the minicamps hosted by our Chapter. Any youth who wish to improve their leadership skills are welcome to be a part of Steering. The committee is lead by CISV Victoria's Local Junior Representative (LRJ) and has an adult JB Liaison to provide support and guidance.

This year's Steering team consists of: Samantha (LJR), Astrid, Kasper, Marco, and Leanna (JB Liaison). They meet monthly to plan an incredible year of fun, peace, and friendship for our JBers.
