Local Junior Branch (LJB)

A Local Junior Branch (LJB) is your very own Junior Branch Chapter that you can take part in on a local level. An LJB is represented by a Local Junior Representative (LJR) who gets chosen by your members for a certain amount of time. This person is responsible for making sure that there is local activity happening and that all the JBers are included in this. An LJB is basically where it all goes down and where all the things you’ve learned with CISV can be used. It’s your very own local platform for experimenting and taking action.

It is good to communicate with other LJRs to see what they are doing because who knows, you just might be doing very similar things!

National Junior Branch (NJB)

NJB stands for National Junior Branch. The structure of a National Junior Branch (JB) varies from country to country. However, it is most common to have two National Junior Representatives (NJRs) that are chosen for a two year period. They are elected from elections at your National Junior Branch Meeting. An NJR sits for two years at a time. First as junior NJR before they go into their second and finale year as senior NJR. In this way they overlap each other and get the training and experience needed for leading a JB.

The NJRs all have an email account that you can use to reach them at anytime if you want to talk about a joint project or how they did a certain activity.

Junior Branch Regions

International Junior Branch (IJB) have three regions, each with a team consisting 4 members: AJB Team (Americas’), APJB Team (Asia-Pacific) and EJB Team (Europe, Middle East & Africa). They are in close contact with the NJRs of their region and work to develop and support national and local JBs. You can approach them about things happening in your local Junior Branch and for support as always.

International Junior Branch (IJB)

Every year there is the International Junior Branch Conference (IJBC) where all Chapters, countries and regions belong. Representing the International Junior Branch are two International Junior Representatives (IJRs). The IJRs are elected at IJBC for a two year period. First year as junior and the finale year as senior. This way they overlap each other and get to learn, experience and teach. The IJRs are in charge of International Junior Branch and represent Junior Branch to all other parts of CISV International.

Besides representing the Junior Branch in CISV they lead the IJB Team. The IJB Team consists of the 2 IJRs and 4  additional Team members whose portfolios supplement the work of IJRs and target specific areas of development in IJB. These portfolios are flexibly defined, distributed on an annual rotation, and revised on a regular basis in alignment with IJB goals. There are two types of portfolios:

  • Specialist portfolios address current IJB priorities and challenges through setting long-term direction and managing relevant projects.
  • Committee portfolios participate in decision-making processes in International Committees of CISV International, bringing in JB perspective and overseeing how JB initiatives can have a wider reach in the organization.

To see the current portfolios distribution, visit their Team page. The IJB team help you plan and develop projects as well as answer any questions you might have. They are always happy to hear from you.
