Junior Branch (JB)

The very heart and soul of CISV, Junior Branch comprises young local CISVers between the ages of 11–25, who develop intercultural and leadership skills through educational and social activities. Junior Branch members manage their own activities and take an active role in the administrative responsibilities of their chapters.

Operating through a network at the national and international level, Junior Branch members organize their own programmes, projects, governance and programmes with educational activities. Junior Branch activities are aimed at building community, developing skills and promoting peace through education. These activities are based on CISV’s 4 pillars: sustainability, conflict and resolution, diversity and human rights.

JB National Camp

National Camp is a multi-age week-long program for up to 40 youth aged 11 - 17 from across Canada. It is being organized by the CISV Canada Junior Branch in collaboration with CISV Montreal.

Like all CISV programs, the National Camp will be a dynamic, fun learning experience focused on peace education and leadership development. Participants are encouraged to take an active leadership role within the camp. After the first day run by the staff, participants will work together to plan and run camp activities.

Trained adult staff will facilitate the planning groups and ensure that everyone has a great experience. Every day will include active time outdoors on the beautiful camp property.

Activities at camp will be planned around CISV’s four content areas: human rights, sustainable development, conflict resolution, and diversity. Camp participants plan and run the activities throughout the week. They are challenged to explore new topics and themes through running activities, simulations, and anything in between. The National Camp experience is what you make of it; come with an open mind and be prepared to discuss new ideas.

Mosaic

Local communities are microcosms of the global context. CISV’s local programmes use the same principles as its international programmes to connect people in a meaningful way with their local communities

Mosaic is a project based programme which empowers individuals and chapters to be agents of change, reach out, and involve as many people as possible. Each project is a separate CISV experience that relates to a local need and interest and involves a different target group. It does not have to be in a camp setting, as with many CISV programmes, but is designed according to the needs and abilities of the CISV chapter.

Using the core CISV Values, local members develop projects in conjunction with like minded organizations or community groups. The aim is to create an authentic learning experience for participants and deliver a benefit to the wider community..
